Analyst is responsible for assisting in the underwriting and monitoring of the Energy Group Portfolio. Analyst will work closely with the Portfolio Manager who owns the underwriting process of these accounts. While the Analyst will not have ownership of any client relationships, and the primary responsibility will be underwriting, the Analyst will also be expected to support business development, when possible, as needed by the bank group.
- Analyst is to work closely with PM and Team Manager on the assigned loan portfolio by monitoring and managing the credit quality of such portfolio.
- Work closely with Cathay Bank’s third-party petroleum engineers on new and existing Reserve Based Loans to fully understand all aspects of the engineering evaluation.
- Become knowledgeable regarding Oil and Gas as well as Renewable Energy companies and lending prospects.
- Specifically accountable for credit underwriting.
- Work with Portfolio Manager to prepare the Credit Commitment Report (“CCR”)
- Work with Portfolio manager to preform credit analysis for all client requests including Borrowing Base Reviews, maturity extensions and amendments to existing facilities.
- Reviews client’s accounts and portfolios to identify, evaluate and determine the appropriate course of action on potential credit quality issues in order to maximize credit quality and minimize risk and potential loss to the Bank.
- Ensure compliance with Bank, regulatory and credit requirements with emphasis on best-in-class customer service while adhering to required timeframes from the client.
- Assist with bank audits.
- Education: S. College graduate with major in related fields.
- Experience: 1-2 years of loan underwriting experience.
- Must possess previous underwriting experience or willing to be quickly trained.
- Must have extensive knowledge and understanding or be willing to learn of Bank’s credit policy, risk management, underwriting requirements and loan servicing.
- Must have strong knowledge and understanding of commercial and specialty group banking products and services or be willing to learn.
Skills/Ability:
PC proficient. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual (English/Mandarin or Cantonese) a plus but not required. Ability to work well independently to restructure loans and/or lines of credits. Must be organized and detail oriented and able to multi-task. Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, high production and team environment. Excellent time management skills and be accustomed to working with deadlines. Ability to assume responsibility and accountability for decision-making. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of Bank personnel.

$63,000-70,000 / year
Pay determined based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.
This position may be eligible for a discretionary bonus.
