City of Jacksonville employees are also eligible for Federal Student Loan Forgiveness after ten (10) years of public service and on-time payments.This is administrative/clerical support work performing varied and moderately complex clerical functions within the Public Parking Office. Work requires knowledge of administrative/clerical methods, practices and procedures, local and state laws regarding public parking and database systems usually gained through training and/or experience. Contacts require basic courtesy, tact, and effectiveness in dealing with others, and include contacts to request or provide information, ask questions or obtain clarification. The work is semi-routine where tasks are covered by procedures or precedents, and although patterned, some latitude is permitted to consider and choose the most appropriate technique, method, or procedure to follow. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer and copier. The work is performed in an office environment though the employee may be required to deliver or pick up mail, documents, supplies or materials. The physical demands consist mainly of moving from one work location to another, sitting, or standing at a work station for extended periods of time, using standard office equipment on an ongoing basis, and may be required to lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Work is performed under general supervision where the work assignments are varied and, although subject to instructions and established work routines, the worker is permitted some latitude to set own priorities subject to supervisor’s approval.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Processes and researches customer requests for parking services which includes monthly parking access (activates/deactivates access cards), parking citation appeals, meter rental requests, etc. Discusses parking laws with customers who received a parking citation. Processes cash or credit card payments and maintains a cash box/safe. Maintains and manages accurate parking records and database systems. Researches and responds to citation issues with respect to collection issues which have been received from the collection agency. Schedules traffic court dates, prepares court docket and enters data into citation database and forwards to all parties involved. Updates the records after receipt of the court dispositions. Compiles data and prepares reports and spreadsheets for Tax report. Reviews pre- and post-tax reports received to ensure reconciliation of payroll deductions of city employees and communicates with Payroll to ensure corrections are posted. Operates standard office equipment such as personal computer using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and other related software. Demonstrates proficiency in the City of Jacksonville’s competencies. Performs related work as required.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
One year of education and/or experience in the administrative field and/or clerical field. Experience in the parking industry is preferred. LICENSING/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: Depending on assignment, a valid driver's license is required prior to appointment and must be maintained during employment in this class.Depending on assignment, must qualify for prior to appointment, obtain, and maintain during employment in this class a City of Jacksonville certification as a public driver.OTHER REQUIREMENTS: The probationary period for this class is six months.
