Wedding Event Assistant (Independent Contractor)

i do Events is looking for dependable, energetic Wedding Event Assistant to join my team. This is an independent contractor position that's perfect for someone who wants to earn extra income, stay active, gain experience in the wedding industry, or simply enjoys being part of unforgettable celebrations.
Every wedding is different, so no two weekends are ever the same!
What You'll Do
As a Wedding Event Assistant, you'll work alongside our Lead Planner to help bring wedding days to life. Duties may include:
- Setting up ceremony and reception spaces
- Arranging tables, chairs, linens, place settings, and décor
- Installing signage, centerpieces, candles, and other decorative elements
- Assisting with vendor load-in and coordination
- Moving décor, furniture, and event supplies throughout the day
- Flipping ceremony spaces into receptions when needed
- Packing and organizing décor at the end of the event
- Keeping the event timeline on track by assisting the planning team
- Providing excellent customer service to couples, guests, and vendors
- Solving problems quickly while maintaining a positive attitude
Requirements
- Must be available to work primarily Fridays, Saturdays, and occasional Sundays
- Must be a full-time resident of Anchorage or the Mat-Su Valley
- Ability to stand and walk for 10-12+ hours during an event
- Ability to repeatedly lift and carry 50 pounds or more
- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in various Alaska weather conditions
- Reliable transportation to event venues throughout Alaska
- Punctual, dependable, and professional
- Able to follow directions while also taking initiative
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly
- Team player with a positive, can-do attitude
- Must present a clean, professional appearance
- Wedding, hospitality, event, or customer service experience is a plus, but not required—I'm happy to train the right person.
This Job Is Physically Demanding
This is not a sit-behind-a-desk position. You'll spend the day lifting, carrying, climbing stairs, bending, kneeling, walking, and working on your feet. If you enjoy staying active and don't mind hard work, you'll fit right in.
