Overview
Telemetry RNs (Tele RNs) consult with health care team members to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans. The Tele RN utilizes machines that measure a patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, breathing rate, as well as blood oxygen levels and electrocardiogram information. Tele RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Tele RNs prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications and report an adverse reaction to medications in accordance with policies
- Prepare equipment and assist physician during examination and treatment of patient
- Identify irregular telemetry readings and notify the appropriate medical team member
- Monitor specialized equipment used on patients and interpret electronic displays
Requirements
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum of 1 recent year experience in Tele and 2 years of experience as a RN
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
- Ability to apply nursing techniques effectively.
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
- Some computer skills.
- Current RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing from an accredited program.
- The position is for a med/surg unit, not accepting OR candidates.
- The role involves working either standard med/surg or stepdown patients depending on staffing needs, particularly with float staffing involving ICU nurses.
- Transplant experience (Preferred)
- Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience (Preferred)
- Preceptor and charge nurse experience (Preferred)
- ENT and/or Transplant experience (Preferred)
