Position Summary
Royal Oak Recycling, a full-service recycler of plastics, paper, cardboard, metal, and electronics, is looking for a dependable, hands-on General Manager to lead plant operations and help our team operate safely, efficiently, and successfully. In this role, you will oversee one of the Company’s Business Units and take ownership of profit-and-loss performance across the operation. You will help carry out regional market strategies that support the Company’s operating and growth plans, lead initiatives that improve efficiency and budget performance, and manage collection and/or post-collection plant operations. You will also represent the Company with customers, vendors, municipalities, and other external partners; support safety and accident prevention programs; help ensure compliance with applicable standards; and guide change efforts that strengthen Business Unit growth and long-term success. Job Description:
As General Manager, you will lead daily plant operations along with dispatch and fleet management. Key responsibilities include:
· Putting plans into action that support the Company’s strategic goals and leading Business Unit initiatives focused on safety, customer experience, efficiency, and profitability.
· Leading day-to-day operations, including OSHA safety practices, attendance, employee conduct, hiring and termination, employee documentation, material grading, plant paperwork, and compliance.
· Training new plant and driver team members to recognize common grades of fiber, plastics, and metals handled at the facility.
· Managing inventory of company assets, tools, and equipment.
· Planning and coordinating scheduled and unscheduled repairs and maintenance for production equipment, fleet assets, buildings, and grounds.
· Working closely with area and regional dispatch and fleet management teams to improve routing, support growth, strengthen customer experience, and improve profitability.
· Promoting a safe, productive work environment by supporting safety and accident prevention programs.
· Helping ensure operations meet environmental, operational, regulatory, safety, accounting, and ethics standards.
· Supporting training and development opportunities for team members.
· Helping ensure the plant is properly staffed to meet operational plans and goals.
· Coaching employees, supporting performance, and encouraging talent development.
· Building positive relationships with government, community, and environmental groups.
· Taking on other job-related responsibilities as needed.

What We’re Looking For:
· High school diploma or G.E.D.
· At least 3 years of progressive leadership and management experience.
· At least 3 years of experience in fleet operations or a related field.
· At least 3 years of P&L experience.
· Strong organization, professionalism, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
· Recycling or waste industry experience is preferred.
· A self-starting approach with the ability to work well in a team environment with minimal supervision.
· Flexibility and responsiveness to business needs while helping deliver excellent customer service.
· Ability to work overtime and flexible hours as needed, based on driver and plant start times and current project needs.
