Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Traffic Control Estimator to join our team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for identifying project opportunities, analyzing bid documents, and preparing competitive proposals for public and private sector projects and accurately estimating costs and preparing proposals for traffic control services on construction projects. Your expertise will help ensure project safety, compliance, and efficiency by providing precise pricing and resource planning. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale infrastructure projects by leveraging your construction estimating skills and industry knowledge. Your proactive approach will support project managers and construction teams in delivering successful outcomes while maintaining cost control and contractual integrity.
Key Responsibilities
- Research and identify new project opportunities through online bidding platforms, government portals, and industry networks
- Review and interpret plans, specifications, and bid documentation
- Prepare accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
- Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing
- Prepare and submit complete bid packages in accordance with client and agency requirements
- Maintain organized bid records and track project outcomes
- Provide management with detailed reports on bidding activity and results
- Support project managers and field teams with cost data and budget analysis as needed
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience within the road construction, traffic control or civil industry
- Strong understanding of cost estimating principles, takeoffs, and bid preparation
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and online bid management platforms
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical documents
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while meeting tight deadlines
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Caltrans or public works projects
- Familiarity with traffic control operations, materials, and industry standards
Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
