Responsibilities
- Assist residents or clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques.
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature; observe for changes in condition or behavior.
- Support medication administration following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light cleaning duties and adhering to infection control protocols.
- Document care activities accurately in resident or patient records, including progress notes and incident reports.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to residents or clients, especially those with dementia, Alzheimer's, autism, or other neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Assist with transportation to medical appointments or community activities while ensuring safety during transfers using proper manual handling techniques.
- Follow all safety procedures including CPR and first aid protocols; respond promptly to emergencies or changes in condition.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to implement care plans tailored to each individual’s needs and preferences.
Experience
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Familiarity with patient observation techniques and monitoring vital signs is essential.
- Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, autism, or neurodevelopmental disorders is advantageous.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards related to patient care is required.
- Hands-on experience with medication administration, care planning, and documentation practices is desirable.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while assisting residents with mobility challenges.
- Demonstrated caregiving skills in geriatrics or long-term care settings will strengthen your application.
