Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Deli Bakery Management Assistant to support the daily operations of our Fairfax location and surrounding areas. This role is vital in ensuring efficient food preparation, excellent customer service, and smooth management of deli and bakery departments. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership skills, culinary knowledge, and a passion for hospitality to foster a welcoming environment for both staff and customers.
Responsibilities
- Assist in overseeing daily deli and bakery operations, ensuring adherence to quality standards and food safety regulations
- Support staff training and development to maintain high levels of customer service and operational efficiency
- Manage inventory control, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimizing waste
- Operate POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS for transactions, returns, and reconciliations
- Ensure proper food handling, preparation, and presentation in accordance with health guidelines
- Supervise shift management by coordinating team schedules, delegating tasks, and maintaining productivity
- Handle cash transactions accurately, including cash handling procedures and balancing registers at shift end
- Collaborate with management to implement promotional activities and menu updates
- Assist in budgeting efforts related to department expenses and food costs
- Support catering, special events, or banquet services as needed to enhance customer experience
Skills
- Proven experience in food preparation, kitchen management, or restaurant supervision within the food industry
- Strong knowledge of POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS; cash handling expertise
- Excellent leadership skills with experience in staff training, team management, and interviewing
- Familiarity with inventory control practices and food safety standards
- Ability to manage shift operations efficiently in quick service or fast-food environments
- Culinary experience with a focus on deli or bakery products; cooking skills preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills with a hospitality mindset
- Effective communication skills for team coordination and customer interactions
- Experience in managing budgets, food production processes, and supervising staff in casual dining or hospitality settings
