Clay County Habitat for Humanity is seeking a dependable, field-capableConstruction Field Assistant to support active residential construction projects. This role is responsible for daily field presence, observing progress, documenting jobsite conditions, helping keep subcontractors and volunteers working in an organized manner, identifying issues early, supporting site readiness, and keeping the Construction Director informed with accurate updates.
This is a field execution and coordination support role, not an independent approval role. All cost changes, scope changes, schedule changes, material substitutions, and formal subcontractor direction must be routed through the Construction Director.
Primary Responsibilities
- Be physically present on active job sites as assigned
- Assist to Monitor day-to-day field progress and communicate concise updates
- Take organized jobsite photos and send daily field reports
- Identify field issues, quality concerns, site readiness gaps, missing materials, and safety concerns early
- Support jobsite preparation for subcontractor entry, inspections, deliveries, and volunteer workdays
- Verify that field conditions generally align with plans, expected sequence, and project direction, then escalate discrepancies
- Help maintain orderly, safe, and workable sites
- Assist with punch list follow-up and completion verification
- Support receiving, organizing, and staging materials on site
- Assist with volunteer coordination in the field as directed
- Track field needs before they become delays
- Communicate respectfully with subcontractors while maintaining the project communication chain

Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of hands-on residential construction experience
- Comfortable working on active residential construction sites
- Able to lift, move, carry, and help stage materials as needed
- Reliable, punctual, and organized
- Strong follow-up habits
- Able to communicate clearly by phone, text, and email
- Comfortable taking and organizing photos and written site notes
- Able to work within a clear chain of command
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record sufficient for company vehicle use
- Comfortable supporting projects that include volunteers, subcontractors, and nonprofit housing work
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of residential construction experience
- Experience in jobsite coordination, field supervision, punch work, or lead field roles
- Experience working around inspections, subcontractor sequencing, and material readiness
- Experience in volunteer-supported construction environments
- Basic plan-reading ability
- Ability to spot practical field issues before they become schedule impacts
Physical / Field Expectations
- Walk active jobsites regularly
- Work outdoors in Florida weather conditions
- Move and stage construction materials when needed
- Climb steps / ladders as appropriate for field observation
- Maintain awareness of safety, access, housekeeping, and volunteer readiness
Work Schedule
- Part-time / hourly based on project needs possible to become a full time
- Weekday field availability required
- Must be available to work 2 Saturdays per month
- Schedule may flex based on inspections, deliveries, subcontractor activity, and volunteer build days
