Position Summary:
The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for examination of product to ensure quality standards and procedures are met and aligned with legislation and customer specifications. Requiring a high level of attention to detail, the QA Tech is responsible for strictly adhering to the organization's quality policies, and identifying defects and/or production errors in order to prevent these materials from entering the supply chain.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform equipment calibration- Perform swab test
- Retain sample
- Collect microbial test sample
- Pre-op check
- Routine line check (labels, package, raw material, coding, sealing, metal detection)
- Perform lab test
- Review and verify operator check sheets to ensure accuracy of information
- Record filing
- Cover duties of other QA technicians in their absence
- Monitor implementation of GMP and quality related SOP(s) at production floor level; assist with staff training
- Segregate problematic product
- Assist in customer complaint investigation
- Report any food safety/ quality issue and GMP non-conformance
- Monitor QA supply level and restock supply when needed.
- Take responsibility for own performance and complete work in a timely, consistent and accurate manner. Demonstrate reliability and time management through attendance, break times and other related duties.
- Perform other functions/activities as assigned from time to time.
Education & Experience Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
2 years’ experience working in a similar role in a food manufacturing setting preferred- Basic GMP; basic microbiology an asset
- Detail-oriented, quick learner, possesses good judgment and interpersonal skills
- Flexibility to accommodate rotating shifts including weekends per the production schedule
- An organized problem-solver, able to prioritize effectively
- Ability to learn our business and enjoy working in a team-oriented environment
- Basic computer skills; Windows MS Office.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing; a second language is an asset.
Physical Requirements: Qualified candidates must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:
Frequent use of chemicals and other cleaning agents using appropriate and recommended PPE- Frequent walking
- Standing for up to 12 hours
