Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and adaptable Building Substitute to step into classrooms and maintain a positive, engaging learning environment. This role involves delivering instruction, managing classroom activities, and supporting teachers in implementing curriculum across various grade levels. The ideal candidate will be energetic, organized, and passionate about working with children from diverse backgrounds.
Duties
- Deliver prepared lessons and adapt instruction based on curriculum guidelines and student needs
- Manage classroom behavior to foster a respectful and productive learning environment
- Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or develop their own in collaboration with school staff
- Support students’ social-emotional development through positive behavior management strategies
- Use educational technologies and computers to enhance instruction and student engagement
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding classroom activities and student progress
- Follow school policies, mandated reporting laws, and safety procedures at all times
Qualifications
- Prior classroom experience or experience working with children in educational or childcare settings
- Bachelor's degree
- Knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, and curriculum implementation
- Strong classroom management skills and ability to adapt instruction for diverse learners, including those with special needs or autism spectrum disorder
- Familiarity with early childhood education, literacy, math, and preschool environments
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with teachers and school staff
- Proficiency in using educational technologies and computers for instructional purposes
- Understanding of childhood development principles and behavior management techniques
- Experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds is preferred
- Knowledge of school policies, mandated reporting laws, and special education practices is advantageous
