Pantry is seeking a hands-on Sous Chef to help lead one of Long Island’s busiest independent kitchens.
We serve thousands of guests every week, and our Sous Chefs are expected to lead from the line—not from an office.
This is a working leadership position for someone who enjoys coaching cooks, maintaining standards, and jumping into service wherever needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen operations alongside the Executive Chef
- Work stations during service while supervising production
- Coach and develop line cooks and prep cooks
- Ensure consistency, quality and presentation of every plate
- Monitor food safety, cleanliness and organization
- Assist with ordering, inventory and receiving
- Help control food cost and minimize waste
- Train new kitchen team members
- Assist with scheduling and labor management
- Help develop seasonal features and menu improvements
- Maintain a positive, respectful kitchen culture
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of kitchen leadership experience
- Strong cooking skills across multiple stations
- Experience leading high-volume kitchens
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- ServSafe certification preferred
- Flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
