Job Overview
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and equipment used in a sheet metal manufacturing facility. This role ensures optimal equipment performance, minimizes downtime, and supports production efficiency while maintaining a safe working environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including press brakes, shears, laser cutters, stamping presses, spotwelders, and other equipment
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues and implement timely repairs
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and work closely with production teams to minimize downtime
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Install, align, and calibrate new equipment or machinery as needed
- Maintain and repair facility systems such as compressors and material handling equipment
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies
- Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage accurately
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and ordering supplies when necessary
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency
Experience/ Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED (technical certification or associate degree preferred)
- Experience with CNC programming or controls
- Welding and fabrication skills
- PLC troubleshooting experience
- 2–5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment (sheet metal or metal fabrication preferred)
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to troubleshoot machinery and automated equipment
- Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment
- Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
- Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking systems
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
