JCR Excavating, LLC is looking for a LEAD EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/FOREMAN
JCR Excavating is a family owned excavating company that specializes in oilfield civil earthwork and commercial site work. Due to growth, we are seeking an experienced Foreman / Lead Operator to oversee and actively participate in field operations across oilfield and commercial civil construction projects. This position requires a hands-on leader who can effectively manage crews while operating heavy equipment to support daily production. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, technical knowledge, and a commitment to safety and quality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCES:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in oilfield construction and/or commercial civil dirt work
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment, with strong excavator skills required
- Previous foreman or crew leadership experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read blueprints and understand grades (GPS and/or laser experience preferred)
- Strong knowledge of site preparation, grading, utilities, and pad construction
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities
- Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred)
- Must pass background check and drug test and have a clean driving record
- Able to handle emergency situations, work pressure and stress
- Ability to complete work projects on time and in an effective manner
- Ability to lead a small crew in a positive manner
- Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.
- Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.
- Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.
- Knowledge of soil conditions and types
- Understanding of computerized controls and electronics--Topcon knowledge a plus
- Self starter and able to work independently under the direction of the field operations manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and lead field crews to ensure safe, efficient, and productive jobsite operations
- Operate heavy equipment (excavator, dozer, loader, etc.) as part of daily work activities
- Plan, coordinate, and execute daily tasks in alignment with project schedules and specifications
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and grade requirements
- Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, inspectors, and clients
- Enforce company safety policies and ensure full compliance with PPE and site requirements
- Monitor production rates, equipment utilization, and material quantities
- Identify and resolve field issues proactively to maintain project timelines
- Maintain high standards for workmanship, jobsite organization, and quality control
Work Environment:
- Long days (up to 15 hours) and some weekends during peak season
- Outdoor work in all conditions (heat, cold, wind, rain, snow)
