Position Details
- Employment Type: Full-Time
- Compensation: $100,000–$130,000 annually

- Travel: Occasional travel to work sites
Role Summary
You will assist in supervising Assistant Estimators, maintain strong client, consultant, and vendor relationships, and lead major components of GMCA’s preconstruction and estimating operations. The document notes that the estimator is responsible for “preconstruction management for all CSI divisions and all types of building construction projects including renovations and ground out construction.”
This is a leadership role with direct influence on hiring, training, proposal strategy, and company estimating practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Preconstruction Management across all CSI divisions and building types
- Staff Leadership — hiring, training, scheduling, performance oversight
- Business Development & Marketing — strategies for new client relationships and market growth
- Client Relationship Management — establish and maintain new and existing client partnerships
- Document Procurement & Organization — manage all materials needed for proposals and presentations
- Proposal Leadership — lead preparation of negotiated, hard bid, public, and private proposals
- Preconstruction Strategy — develop approach for each proposal and presentation
- Subcontractor/Vendor Management — maintain relationships, prequalify bidders, provide clear scopes
- Competitive Bidding & Forecasting — budgeting, forecasting, contract negotiation, award recommendations
- Risk Analysis — evaluate project risk factors case-by-case
- Quantity Takeoffs & Cost Analysis — lead assembly of takeoffs, quotations, and CSI division breakdowns
- Estimating Software Mastery — stack estimating, bid procurement services, company database
- Process Improvement — help establish new estimating practices after mastering existing ones
- Recordkeeping — maintain estimating records for all proposal types
- Preconstruction Handoff — lead transition of awarded projects to Construction Department
- Cost Database Management — maintain cost data for all CSI divisions
Required Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of commercial construction
- Ability to travel for client meetings and project visits
- Preferred: 4-year degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Building Construction
- 5–8 years experience in a similar estimating role for a commercial GC
- Extensive knowledge of CSI format and all building trades
- Strong leadership, personnel management, and planning skills
- Highly organized, deadline-driven, and detail-oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency with construction estimating software and blueprint reading
- Skilled in quotation, documentation presentation, and sales
Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
