In this highly visible role, you'll collaborate with utilities, engineers, commercial teams, consultants, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure projects move efficiently from early development through successful interconnection. You'll have the opportunity to influence technical strategy, improve processes, negotiate agreements, and solve complex transmission challenges while supporting the growth of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
What You'll Do
- Lead behind-the-meter interconnection strategy.
- Manage utility applications and technical studies.
- Coordinate engineering reviews and agreement negotiations.
- Partner with utilities and external stakeholders.
- Develop standardized interconnection processes.
- Ensure projects remain compliant and on schedule.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of transmission, utility engineering, or interconnection experience.
- Strong understanding of electric utility interconnection processes.
- Experience with ISO/RTO markets and renewable energy projects.
- Knowledge of FERC, NERC, and utility regulations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project management skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred, equivalent experience considered.

Job Skills
- Behind-the-meter (BTM) interconnection expertise.
- Knowledge of transmission planning and utility operations.
- Experience with ISO/RTO markets (ERCOT, CAISO, PJM, MISO, SPP, WECC, etc.).
- Understanding of transmission service requests and OASIS.
- Experience with generation interconnection agreements.
- Knowledge of FERC, NERC, and state utility regulations.
- Understanding of power flow analysis, congestion management, LMP pricing, and grid reliability.
- Strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
- Renewable energy project experience (geothermal, solar, wind, battery storage, or similar).
- Excellent communication, organization, and project management skills.
Job Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline preferred.
- Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead behind-the-meter interconnection strategy for commercial energy projects.
- Develop standardized interconnection processes and utility compliance procedures.
- Evaluate utility interconnection requirements, timelines, and approval processes.
- Manage the complete interconnection lifecycle from application through execution.
- Coordinate technical studies and engineering reviews.
- Negotiate interconnection agreements with utilities and external stakeholders.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison with utilities, consultants, customers, and regulatory agencies.
- Support commercial development through transmission planning and utility coordination.
- Ensure projects meet regulatory and technical requirements.
- Provide technical guidance throughout project development and execution.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in transmission, interconnection, or power systems.
- Strong knowledge of utility interconnection processes.
- Experience working directly with utilities and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with transmission planning and grid operations.
- Knowledge of renewable energy generation projects.
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
