Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Teacher Assistant to join our team. Duties
- Provide physical assistance and behavioral support to students with disabilities, including those with behavioral disorders or autism spectrum disorders.
- Support students’ social-emotional development through positive behavior management strategies and individualized behavior plans.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and adapt instructional materials, including curriculum development and lesson planning for diverse learners.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a safe, organized, and inclusive learning environment that respects confidentiality of student information.
- Assist with classroom support activities such as childcare, toddler care, preschool activities, Montessori methods, or supporting early childhood education initiatives.
- Provide basic math and literacy support tailored to individual student needs while promoting engagement in learning activities.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children or students in educational or childcare settings, especially within special education environments.
- Knowledge of childhood development theories, classroom management techniques, and behavior management strategies for students with special needs.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders is highly preferred
- Strong communication skills—both written and verbal—to effectively collaborate with educators, parents, and support staff.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly while maintaining professionalism at all times.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team environment supporting inclusive classrooms following the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) guidelines.
- Physical ability to assist students physically when necessary for mobility or safety reasons.
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques tailored for students with behavioral disorders or disabilities.
- Experience supporting curriculum delivery in early childhood or preschool settings such as Montessori or preschool programs is desirable.
