American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiothoracic ICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years CVICU/CTICU experience, Epic proficiency, and a VA or Compact RN license.

Work setting is a Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU) in a hospital environment
-
8-bed unit utilizing a universal bed model — ICU patients downgraded to step-down status remain in the CTICU until discharge, requiring nurses to care for both ICU and step-down patients
-
Patient population includes post-operative CABG adults, Acute Coronary Syndrome, NSTEMI, STEMI, and CHF
-
Patient ratio is 1:1–2

Equipment used includes Hemosphere, Quantum, and Accuryn monitoring systems

Epic EMR proficiency required — no exceptions
-
Schedule is nights, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30), every other weekend, with holiday and float requirements

Block scheduling cannot be accommodated

Active VA or Compact RN license currently in hand — no exceptions

Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association required

NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required

Minimum 2 years of experience in a CVICU or CTICU required

Epic EMR proficiency required

Required skills include: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, PICC line management, IV insertion, continuous IV sedation, procedural sedation, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, strong neuro experience (post-brain surgery, EVD/ventriculostomy), FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multi-system organ failure, CABG care, IABP, Impella, post-cardiac surgery care (directly and indirectly from OR), pre/post cardiac cath/intervention, PA line/Swan-Ganz monitoring, IV insulin protocols, CVVHD/CRRT, CVA/acute stroke management, BiPAP/CPAP management, ventilated patient care, HFNC, ABG interpretation, ETT/NT suctioning, ventilator management, infection prevention, isolation precautions/PPE, and surgical wound/wound vac care

Preferred skills include: thermoregulation (hypothermia/hyperthermia), chronic/acute renal failure management, port access, external ventricular drain (EVD) management, and ICP monitoring

Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; a valid Driver's License must be provided for address verification

Provide nursing care to critically ill cardiothoracic patients including post-surgical, cardiac, and step-down patients as part of the universal bed model
