-Prepare food daily from the menu cycle with the highest quality, care, and skill.
-Ensure special dietary restrictions and needs are met and are within the approved special diet guidelines and resident preferences are considered.
-Come up with nutritious meal, snack, and dessert ideas for our residents.
-Resolve, not be a part of, problems in the kitchen.
-Report issues and meet with facility manager and RCFE director as needed.
-Arrange, stock, and maintain sufficient levels of food products to assure smooth service.
-Handle, store, and rotate all products properly in accordance with Health Department standards and SCH corporate guidelines.
-Implement and monitor systems for kitchen and dining room sanitation, safety, temperature control, and equipment maintenance. Keep kitchen clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly following cleaning schedule, including shelves and cooking surfaces.
-Ensure meals are prepared using approved menus, recipes and other supporting materials.
-Ensure meals are presented in an attractive manner that is appealing.
-Request resident reviews and follow up on resident comments and concerns.
-During the service of each meal the manager should walk the dining room and speak with the residents, soliciting comments about the day’s meals, service, etc.
-Prepares snacks for residents according to snack schedule and menu in order to assure residents are getting adequate nutrition and hydration.
Requirements:
-Professional kitchen experience. Cooking experience a bonus!
-Experience cooking for the elderly and those with dietary restrictions.
-Prior experience in volume food preparation, including experience in proper food handling, preparation and storage.
-Knowledge of well-balanced and nutritious meals, snacks, and desserts.
-Experience maintaining a clean kitchen and counter space.
-Experience working with the elderly.
