Summary
The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager in overseeing construction projects from start to finish. This role helps coordinate planning, budgeting, scheduling, and procurement, and plays a hands on part in keeping projects on track and on budget while gaining experience toward full project management responsibility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Project Planning and Coordination
- Support the Project Manager in developing project plans, including scope, objectives, deliverables, and timelines
- Help coordinate with clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to keep everyone aligned on project goals
- Maintain clear communication channels with all parties throughout the project
Budgeting and Cost Control
- Assist in developing and tracking project budgets
- Monitor project expenses and flag variances to the Project Manager
- Help gather cost data to support accurate estimating
Schedule Management
- Help maintain project schedules, including milestones and dependencies
- Coordinate with teams to keep activities on track
- Track progress against the schedule and report delays early
Resource Allocation
- Assist in coordinating labor, equipment, and materials for project needs
- Work with subcontractors and suppliers to confirm timely delivery
- Support efficient use of resources across the project
Quality Control
- Help enforce compliance with applicable codes, standards, and specifications
- Assist with inspections and quality audits, and help address issues promptly
- Document project progress and support client expectations
Team Support
- Support the Project Manager in coordinating project teams and subcontractors
- Help assign tasks and communicate priorities
- Contribute to a productive, collaborative work environment
Risk Management
- Help identify potential project risks, including schedule, budget, and safety related issues
- Support development of contingency plans
- Assist in monitoring and reporting on risks
Client Relationship Support
- Help maintain strong client relationships and address questions or concerns
- Assist with regular project updates and status communication
- Support change requests and closeout activities
Health and Safety Compliance
- Support compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices
- Help promote a culture of safety on site
- Assist with safety meetings and implementation of safety measures
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, and change orders
- Help prepare project status reports covering cost, schedule, and performance
- Communicate documentation updates to stakeholders as needed
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as required or assigned by leadership
Position Requirements
- Position requires extended hours, which will vary depending on job and site requirements
- May need to work weekends if business needs require
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
Physical and Cognitive Requirements
- Able to lift up to 20 lbs regularly
- Must be able to traverse in all weather conditions and work in extreme temperatures
- Position requires the ability to stand, squat, and reach
- Must be able to stand and walk continuously through shift
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to exercise precaution in the handling of tools and equipment
- May be exposed to dust, fumes, and odoriferous working conditions
- Crouch, kneel, bend, or stand for long periods of time
- Must be able to sit at a desk for 8 plus hours per day
- Be subject to motor or machine noise
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function
Skills and Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of construction experience, ideally in a coordination, estimating, or project support role
- Must be able to pass a drug test, background screen, and MVR
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Tech savvy, comfortable picking up new software and tools quickly
- A figure it out type of person who takes initiative and finds solutions without needing everything spelled out
- Working knowledge of construction systems, codes, and standards
- Interest in and aptitude for project management
- Developing skills in planning, scheduling, and budgeting
- Comfortable with project management software and tools
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organizational and problem solving skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Basic understanding of procurement and subcontractor coordination
- Willingness to learn construction industry regulations and best practices
Compensation and Benefits
Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. The Company reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
