Gourmets Market is seeking an creative, hardworking detail-oriented Sous Chef to join our well seasoned culinary team. You will assist the Chef in overseeing daily kitchen and catering operations, ensuring the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. Responsibilities
- Support the Restaurant and Catering Chefs in managing daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation
- Supervise and motivate kitchen staff to maintain high standards of quality, efficiency, and safety
- Skilled enough to Work as expo or a line position as needed
- Assist with menu planning and recipe development to ensure variety and consistency in all offerings
- Oversee food safety protocols, sanitizing procedures, and proper food handling practices in compliance with health regulations
- Manage inventory control and monitor stock levels to minimize waste while ensuring ingredient availability for all menu items
- Coordinate catering events with attention to detail and timely execution
- Lead shift management by organizing work schedules, delegating tasks, and maintaining a positive team environment
- Ensure adherence to cost control measures while maintaining exceptional food quality and presentation
- Collaborate with sales departments to accommodate special dietary needs and restrictions effectively
- Maintain a clean, organized kitchen environment aligned with food safety standards as our goals is always a 100% score.
Requirements
- Proven experience in food production within a restaurant or hospitality setting, must include high volume breakfast and catering environments
- Supervising experience with demonstrated leadership skills in managing culinary teams
- Extensive knowledge of food safety sanitizing procedures, food handling practices, and sanitation standards
- Strong background in menu planning, recipe development, and culinary techniques such as cooking and food preparation
- Experience managing inventory control, cost management, and kitchen operations efficiently
- Familiarity with catering logistics, and shift management processes
- Excellent team management skills with the ability to motivate staff and foster a collaborative work environment
- Knowledge of dietary requirements and ability to adapt menus accordingly
- Previous restaurant management or food service management experience is highly desirable
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality standards
