Overview
We are seeking a dedicated, detail-oriented, experienced Mohs Surgical Assistant to join our specialized dermatology team. This role involves supporting Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive procedures, ensuring patient safety, and maintaining high standards of infection control and aseptic technique. The ideal candidate must have a strong background in dermatologic surgery. Knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as EMA is preferred. This position offers an opportunity to work with a renowned physician who focuses on complex skin cancer patient care and complex surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the surgical environment by setting up sterile fields and ensuring all equipment is properly sterilized and functioning.
- Ensure that surgical rooms are stocked and all supplies ordered.
- Assist the surgeon during Mohs and other surgical procedures.
- Apply effective pressure bandages to surgical sites.
- Instruct patients in postoperative wound care.
- Collect and document accurate data related to patient history, vital signs, and procedural details using EMR/EHR systems.
- Support patient care by explaining procedures and addressing patient concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols and aseptic technique throughout all phases of patient care and surgery.
- Assist with specimen labeling, handling, and documentation to ensure proper analysis and processing by pathology labs.
- Adhere to policies regarding safety, confidentiality, and documentation standards.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to dermatologic surgery.
- Experience with Mohs surgical/reconstructive procedures.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems, preferably EMA.
- Prior experience working in dermatologic or plastic surgery is essential.
- Ability to perform under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication abilities.
- Knowledge of infection control practices and aseptic technique essential for maintaining a sterile surgical environment.

Pay: $35.00 - $50.00 per hour
