Responsibilities:
- perform excavation, installation, and repair of underground utilities and pipelines.
- Conduct routine maintenance on utility infrastructure such as water systems, electrical lines, fiber splicing, cabling, and power tools.
- Locate underground utilities using utility locating equipment to ensure safe excavation and construction activities.
- Perform manual handling tasks involving heavy lifting and the use of hand tools for installation or repair projects.
- Assist with trenching, rigging, climbing structures, ladder use, and other construction site activities while following safety protocols.
- Maintain equipment through regular inspections and repairs to ensure operational readiness.
- Participate in on-call coverage to respond promptly to emergencies or urgent utility issues outside of regular working hours.
- Support safety initiatives by adhering to all safety procedures related to high voltage, low voltage electrical work, welding, mechanical tasks, and outdoor work environments.
- Collaborate with team members on projects involving underground utilities, pipeline maintenance, utility cable installation, and infrastructure upgrades.
- Monitor pump stations, maintain the pump stations including painting, roofing, cleaning and power washing, work on pump stations including replace packing, seals, wear plates, bearings, and drive shafts.
- Clean screens, wet wells, trucks, equipment, shop, etc.
- Maintains all generators.
- Locates Miss Utility marks.
- Repairs sewer lines, man holes, and trouble shoots mechanical and electrical issues.
- Other duties as assigned, requested, required.
Requirements:
- Proven experience working in the energy & utilities sector or related outdoor construction environments.
- Demonstrated ability to operate power tools safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of water systems maintenance, electrical experience including high voltage and low voltage work, fiber splicing, cabling techniques, and underground utility locating.
- Mechanical knowledge with experience in equipment maintenance and repair (MRO).
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while working on construction sites or outdoor environments.
- Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, rigging equipment, ladders, and climbing structures as needed.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to high voltage electrical work, welding procedures, manual handling practices and underground utility safety standards.
- Excellent teamwork skills combined with the flexibility to provide on-call coverage during emergencies or after-hours situations.
- Physical fitness for outdoor work including climbing structures or confined spaces; comfort working in varying weather conditions.
- High School diploma, or GED
- Current CDL with Class B in the Commonwealth of Virginia

Pay: $47,918.00 - $52,709.00 per year
