Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, including refrigerated trailers and hazardous materials (Hazmat) shipments
- Navigate using GPS systems to ensure efficient delivery routes and timely arrivals
- Load and unload freight with proper manual handling techniques, including forklift operation when necessary
- Transport automobiles, freight, or dangerous goods across long distances while complying with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards
- Manage truck loading and unloading processes, ensuring cargo is secured correctly for safe transit
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and compliance with hazardous materials regulations
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, shipment documentation, and compliance records in accordance with trucking regulations
Skills
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, including route driving for OTR routes
- Knowledge of refrigerated trailer operations, flatbed, tanker, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, or similar equipment
- Familiarity with GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning
- Ability to handle hazardous materials safely following hazardous goods regulations
- Skilled in manual handling techniques for freight loading/unloading and forklift operation when required
- Strong understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT standards, and hazardous materials regulations
- Excellent driving skills with a focus on safety, manual transmission operation, and vehicle control
- Experience in delivery driving with a focus on customer service and timely deliveries
