The Role: Senior Accountant:
As a Senior Accountant, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of Woodstone's financial operations while supporting strategic business initiatives. This position is responsible for managing key accounting processes, financial analysis, job costing, reconciliations, and compliance activities. The ideal candidate is eager to grow professionally, expand their accounting expertise, and take on increasing levels of responsibility within a growing organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Core Processes:
General Ledger Management
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger through accurate journal entries, account analysis, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Month-End and Year-End Close
- Assist with and help drive timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of adjusting entries and supporting schedules.
Financial Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Analyze financial results and provide insights to support business decision-making.
Account Reconciliations and Adjustments
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
Job Costing and Construction Accounting
- Analyze project costs, monitor job profitability, reconcile project financial data, and collaborate with operations teams to ensure accurate job costing.
- Review work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and support revenue recognition processes.
- Assist with project forecasting and margin analysis.
- Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure project financial information is accurate and timely.
Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Support
- Provide oversight, analysis, and process support for AP and AR functions to ensure efficient and accurate transaction processing.
Payroll and Company Credit Card Program
- Assist with payroll accounting, reconciliations, and oversight of the company credit card program to ensure policy compliance and proper expense allocation.
Equipment and Fixed Assets
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and equipment-related accounting activities.
Tax Compliance and Regulatory Reporting
- Assist with sales and use tax filings and support compliance with various federal, state, and local reporting requirements.
External Audit Preparation and Support
- Prepare audit schedules, gather supporting documentation, and serve as a key contact during external audit processes.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Support accounting system implementations, integrations, and enhancements, including Procore and CMiC-related financial workflows.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, internal controls, reporting capabilities, and operational efficiencies.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration
- Partner with project management, operations, HR, and executive leadership to provide financial insight, support decision-making, and improve business processes.
Special Projects and Analysis
- Complete financial analyses, reporting initiatives, and process improvement projects as assigned.

Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Progressive accounting experience
- Construction, project-based, or job-cost accounting experience strongly preferred.
- CPA or CMA certification is a plus
- Understanding of construction accounting principles and practices, or the ability to quickly learn project-based accounting environments.
- Proficient in Microsoft O365 software
- Procore experience is a plus
- CMiC experience is a plus
- Knowledge of lien waivers and pay applications preferred
- Meticulous attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated leadership qualities and the ability to influence positive outcomes across teams.
- Experience mentoring or training team members is a plus.
- Ability to adapt to new processes and changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
