Leadership & Operations: Oversee all day-to-day camp operations, including guest accommodations and dining services. Coordinate with the High Sierra Camps Operations Manager to order supplies ensuring timely delivery by mule and proper storage at the camp. Manage the camp's commercial kitchen, ensuring preparation of hot breakfasts and dinners for guests, packed lunches, and meals for staff. Ensure all kitchen operations follow food safety guidelines and ServSafe standards. Ensure the camp meets all health and safety standards, as well as park service regulations, in preparation for public health and park service inspections. Oversee staff scheduling to ensure coverage for all shifts Develop and implement camp schedules to ensure that guests have access to meals and support as needed. Oversee housekeeping and custodial services, ensuring that guest accommodations, kitchen facilities, and common areas are kept clean, organized, and well-maintained to a high standard.
Guest Experience: Provide exceptional guest service by addressing any concerns or requests promptly and professionally. Ensure that all guests experience a memorable wilderness stay by providing basic information about camp activities and the surrounding natural environment. Handle guest feedback and ensure a high standard of satisfaction throughout the camp season.
Safety & Environmental Stewardship: Monitor and enforce safety protocols, including fire safety, wilderness preparedness, and first aid, keeping safety as the top priority in the backcountry environment. Promote Leave No Trace principles, educating staff and guests on sustainable practices. Maintain the camp?s cleanliness and ensure it is in harmony with the surrounding natural environment.
Compliance & Administrative Management: Oversee cost control and ensure efficient use of resources throughout the camp, including food, supplies, and staffing. Ensure the camp meets all public health standards, park service regulations, and operational protocols in preparation for inspections by relevant authorities. Abide by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with the employee union, ensuring that all staffing, scheduling, and operational practices comply with union guidelines. Track inventory, supplies, and equipment for the camp.
Staff Management & Development: Foster a positive and collaborative work environment for the camp staff. Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to improve staff performance and ensure exceptional service. Accurately track hours for all staff and submit payroll on time. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback for continuous improvement. Hold teams accountable to Aramark and Yosemite?s policies and procedures. Independent Work & Wilderness Responsibility: Work independently with minimal supervision, handling all camp duties and challenges autonomously while maintaining a high ethical standard. Be prepared to manage emergencies and guest needs at any time, staying vigilant and proactive in ensuring camp operations run smoothly. As the camp is in a remote backcountry location, the manager must be flexible, resourceful, and capable of solving problems on the spot.
