Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Fiber & Coax Cable Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber optic and coaxial cable systems for residential and commercial clients. Your expertise will ensure reliable telecommunications services, including internet, television, and phone connections. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors, utilize a variety of hand and power tools, and deliver exceptional customer service while building essential telecommunications infrastructure.
Duties
- Install, splice, and test fiber optic cables and coaxial cables in various environments, including residential and commercial settings.
- Use hand tools such as wire strippers, crimpers, and power tools to prepare cables for installation.
- Operate company vehicles safely to reach job sites and transport equipment.
- Perform equipment testing using specialized tools like ohmmeters and network testers to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct field service visits to troubleshoot issues with existing telecommunications networks and perform repairs or upgrades as needed.
- Install telecommunication equipment including Cisco routers, satellite dishes, Ethernet cabling, and telephony systems.
- Follow safety protocols during outdoor work, including ladder use and electrical work procedures, to prevent accidents.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a telecommunications infrastructure technician or in a related field service role.
- Strong knowledge of network installation, electrical work, fiber splicing, and telecommunications cable installation.
- Familiarity with computer networking concepts such as Ethernet connections and Cisco routers.
- Ability to operate hand tools (wire strippers, wire crimpers), power tools, and electrical testing equipment safely and effectively.
- Experience with outdoor work environments requiring ladder use and electrical safety practices.
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; experience operating company vehicles is preferred.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor including lifting heavy equipment, climbing ladders, and working in various weather conditions.
- Electrical experience or background in electrical work is highly desirable.
