Position Title: CAD Drafter - CPW
Reports To: Operations & Engineering Manager
Location: Covenant Panelworks
Position Summary:
The CAD Drafter - CPW is responsible for creating shop drawings used to build control panels in a custom panel shop. The person in this role works under the guidance of a project engineer to take customer-supplied information and create a standard package that can be used by the panel shop. The ideal candidate combines hands-on design skills with a strong understanding of control systems, panel layouts, and electrical standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed electrical wiring diagrams, wire schedules, 2D panel layout drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs) according to customer-provided schematics, specifications, etc.
- Work closely with the project engineer to ensure accuracy of drawings and other documentation required
- Maintain all required documentation during the drafting process and ensure that all documentation is returned to the project engineer upon completion of the drawings
- Revise drawings as instructed by the project engineer throughout the process and prepare as-built drawings as needed
- Assist in the development and improvement of the drafting processes, standards, component symbol libraries, etc.
- Document and maintain best practices for complex and repetitive CAD-related tasks to ensure consistency throughout the drafting department
Additional Accountabilities:
- Good communication skills, experience in effectively communicating key information, and good attention to detail
- Participate in and contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes and procedures
- Assist with other technical activities such as checking, estimating, and testing as required to meet project milestones
- Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to support the company’s operational goals
Required Education and Experience
- 2 - 3 years of Drafting experience (minimum), Associate’s degree (preferred) in CAD or electrical design
- 1 -2 years of experience in electrical panel design, preferably in industrial or automation sectors
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar electrical CAD tools
- Solid understanding of electrical circuits, basic wiring, and electrical components
- Knowledge of UL, IEC, NEC, and NFPA79 standards applicable to panel building considered a plus
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to maintain accuracy and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment, with regular interaction with the manufacturing floor. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and scanners. Occasional use of hand tools will also be required.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, on-site position, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
