About the Role
Green Valley Manufacturing of Illinois is seeking a hands-on HR Generalist to support our Decatur manufacturing facility. This on-site role partners closely with leadership and employees to manage day-to-day HR operations across the full employee lifecycle, with a strong focus on employee support, compliance, and HR process execution.
The ideal candidate is organized, approachable, and comfortable operating independently while escalating complex matters appropriately.
Responsibilities
HR Administration & Employee Support
- Manage and maintain accurate employee personnel files and HR records
- Lead employee onboarding, ensuring completion of all required documentation
- Enter, update, and audit employee data in HRIS and payroll systems
- Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions and concerns; escalate complex issues as appropriate
- Partner with leadership to support employee relations, performance documentation, and consistent policy application
Timekeeping & Payroll Support
- Review timecards, monitor attendance, and maintain PTO records
- Identify and resolve timekeeping discrepancies in collaboration with supervisors
- Partner with payroll to ensure employee data changes are accurate, compliant, and timely
- Support payroll audits and corrections as needed
Benefits & Leave Administration
- Administer employee benefit enrollments, changes, and ongoing support
- Support and coordinate annual open enrollment activities
- Manage and track leave requests and documentation (PTO, FMLA, personal leave) in compliance with policy and law
Recruiting & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruiting activities including job postings, applicant tracking, and interview scheduling
- Facilitate pre-employment screenings and hiring documentation
- Deliver or support new hire orientation and onboarding processes
Compliance & HR Operations
- Assist with maintaining and enforcing HR policies, procedures, and handbook acknowledgments
- Track required training, certifications, and compliance documentation
- Support HR audits, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of HR experience; manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
- Working knowledge of FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, and Illinois employment laws
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office
Preferred
- Experience with Paycor HRIS/payroll systems
- Experience with Employee Navigator benefits administration platform
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification
Work Environment
- On-site role at a manufacturing facility in Decatur, IL
- Occasional day travel to other facilities required
- Regular interaction with employees and leadership on the production floor and in office settings
- Requires discretion, professionalism, and confidentiality

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
