Position Summary
The Retail Associate is a cross-functional team member responsible for supporting all day-to-day retail operations within the dispensary. This position provides excellent customer service while assisting with sales, inventory management, merchandising, online order fulfillment, delivery preparation, and general store operations. Retail Associates are expected to work collaboratively across departments while maintaining compliance with California Department of Cannabis Control (DCC) regulations and Buzz Cannabis operating standards.
This role is designed to provide operational flexibility and may perform duties traditionally assigned to Budtenders, Inventory Associates, Merchandisers, or Delivery Support based on business needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service & Sales

Greet customers professionally and provide exceptional customer service.

Educate customers regarding cannabis products while remaining compliant with California regulations.

Process sales accurately using the point-of-sale system.

Verify customer identification and age before every transaction.

Handle cash and electronic payments accurately.

Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
Inventory Support

Receive and organize incoming inventory.

Assist with inventory counts and cycle counts.

Stock sales floor displays and storage areas.
-
Ensure inventory accuracy within the POS and inventory management system.

Report inventory discrepancies to management.

Assist with product audits and compliance checks
Merchandising
- Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked product displays.

Rotate products using FIFO procedures.

Verify pricing accuracy and promotional signage.

Ensure displays meet company merchandising standards.
Delivery & Online Order Support
- Prepare customer orders for pickup and delivery.

Verify order accuracy prior to fulfillment.

Package products in accordance with company procedures.

Assist Delivery Drivers with dispatch preparation.

Maintain proper chain of custody during order fulfillment
Compliance & Store Operations

Follow all California cannabis regulations and company policies.

Maintain accurate documentation and transaction records.

Participate in inventory audits and compliance inspections.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

Attend required meetings and training sessions.

Perform additional duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Previous retail, hospitality, or cannabis experience preferred.

Strong customer service and communication skills.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Basic computer and POS proficiency.

Reliable transportation and dependable attendance.

Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Frequent standing and walking throughout the workday.

Frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and stocking merchandise.

Ability to operate POS equipment and inventory devices.

Ability to work in varying temperatures within storage and retail areas.
