We are seeking a caring, reliable, and enthusiastic Substitute Teacher to join our childcare program. The Substitute Teacher will provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children while supporting the daily routines and educational activities in the absence of regular teachers.
Early Impressions is made up of 8 locations around Jackson County:

- Michigan Center (137 Broad St, Michigan Center, MI 49254)
- Northwest (6900 Rives Junction Rd, Jackson, MI 49201)
- Springport (300 W. Main St, Springport, MI 49284)
- Vandercook Lake (1005 Floyd Ave, Jackson, MI 49203)
- Woodville (3950 Catherine St, Jackson, MI 49203)
This role requires flexibility, patience, and a passion for working with young children, along with the ability to travel to our sites. This candidate would have availability to cover shifts that may arise between 6AM – 6PM, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children in classroom and playground settings, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding daily activities, progress, and any concerns
- Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that supports learning and safety standards
- Assist with diapering, feeding, nap times, and other routine care tasks for infants and toddlers
- Adhere to all mandated reporting laws and health protocols to ensure compliance with licensing requirements
Requirements
- Prior experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or similar settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Certification in first aid and CPR (Pediatric First Aid preferred) to respond confidently to emergencies
- Experience working with children with disabilities or special needs is a plus
- Strong communication skills for parent engagement and team collaboration
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively through positive guidance strategies
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including mornings AND afternoons

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
