Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Registered Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care, excellent clinical skills, and a thorough understanding of dental procedures and infection control protocols. As a key member of our dental practice, you will play a vital role in promoting oral health, providing preventive care, and ensuring a positive patient experience in a professional and welcoming environment.
Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical history, vital signs, and current dental conditions.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and preventive care strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as applying fluoride treatments, sealants, and other preventive measures.
- Take and develop medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to safety protocols and radiation guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient records, treatment plans, and progress notes in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Follow strict infection control procedures using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times.
- Support the dental team with administrative tasks related to medical records review, documentation review, and medical coding as needed.
- Promote a positive environment by fostering teamwork through four-handed dentistry techniques that enhance efficiency and patient comfort.
Skills
- Proficiency in dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry.
- Experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for accurate record-keeping.
- Strong knowledge of infection control standards and aseptic techniques within a dental setting.
- Ability to perform patient care tasks effectively while demonstrating excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry principles when working with children or pediatric patients.
- Skilled in chairside assisting with general dentistry procedures in both pediatric and adult populations.
- Knowledge of medical coding practices related to dental treatments for insurance billing purposes.
- Understanding of medical imaging techniques essential for diagnostic purposes in dentistry.
