Job Title: Electromyography Technologist (EMG Tech),
Location: Philadelphia, PA,
Shift: Monday - Friday Day Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM),
Job Duration: 13 weeks contract,
Mandatory Qualifications & Skills:
- Knowledge of EMG procedures, nerve conduction studies, and related neurodiagnostic techniques.
- ABEM CNCT (Certified Nerve Conduction Technologist) or
- AAET R.NCS.T (Registered Nerve Conduction Study Technologist) or equivalent recognized certification.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
- Knowledge of patient history, anatomy, and technical principles relevant to EMG testing.
- Demonstrated proficiency in electrode placement and operation of EMG equipment.
- Ability to identify and appropriately record normal and abnormal test responses.
- Ability to assemble, disassemble, prepare, and clean EMG equipment between patient cases.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with physicians, administrators, and healthcare staff.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to provide care appropriate to young adult, adult, and geriatric patients.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Perform nerve conduction studies in accordance with established procedures.
- Assist physicians with needle examinations in the EMG laboratory and at the patient's bedside.
- Prepare patients, equipment, electrodes, and testing components for EMG procedures.
- Operate EMG equipment and ensure proper equipment functionality.
- Record and document test responses accurately.
- Enter patient and testing information into the electronic health record and support hospital billing documentation.
- Maintain appropriate equipment cleaning and infection-control procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within the scope of EMG services.
- Compile monthly departmental statistics and maintain accurate records.
- Support training of coworkers and precept students in EMG-related procedures.
Pay: $45.00 - $48.00 per hour
