Position Overview:
The Food Service Coordinator supports the Food Service Manager in overseeing daily operations across the catering, concessions, and coffee shop areas. This role includes staff management, inventory control, food preparation, and ensuring an outstanding customer experience across all departments. The Food Service Coordinator must be proactive, organized, and capable of leading a team while maintaining high standards of service and cleanliness.
Essential Job Duties:
Assist in Daily Operations:
o Support the Food Service Manager in the daily operations of catering, concessions, and coffee shop departments.
o Manage day-to-day food service operations across catering, concessions, and coffee shop
o Address operational issues and implement solutions
o Assist in scheduling across all three food service areas.
o Coordinate with departments to ensure proper inventory levels and product availability.
o Prepare and serve food as needed in all departments.
Staff Management and Training:
o Train and oversee baristas, concession workers, and other team members, ensuring they provide exceptional customer service.
o Supervise and provide operational support to the Coffee Shop Lead and Concessions Lead
o Assist manager with schedules for all frontline food service staff, including leads, baristas, concession attendants, and event staff
o Assist manager with staffing adjustments and securing shift coverage as needed
o Communicate staffing concerns and labor needs to the Food Service Manager
o Work with the Food Service Manager to monitor and maintain customer service standards.
o Communicate labor utilization issues to manager.
o Provide coaching and support to lead staff and frontline employees
o Assist with creating new menu items and conducting pricing and cost analysis for catering, concessions, and the coffee shop.
Operational Support:
o Oversee and assist with routine audits for inventory control.
o Maintain operational procedures, training materials, and service standards
o Coordinate food and service preparation
o Present marketing ideas for catering, concessions, and coffee shop operations to food service manager.
o Collect and review promotional information from the Coffee Shop Lead and Concessions Lead
o Serve as acting department leader in the absence of the Food Service Manager
o Ensure proper menu board maintenance and support with flyer design.
o Ensure event prep for catering, concessions, and coffee shop operations are completed efficiently.
Health and Safety:
o Help maintain clean, sanitized work areas, utensils, and equipment in all food service areas.
o Follow all sanitation and safety regulations to ensure a healthy and safe environment.
o Ensure customer service, food quality, and cleanliness standards are consistently met
o Maintain clean workspaces, equipment, and utensils, ensuring all areas meet health and safety standards.
o Report any safety hazards to the Food Service Manager immediately.
Job Duties/Tasks:
o Assist in preparing and serving food and beverages as required in the coffee shop, concessions, and catering areas.
o Train baristas on coffee preparation techniques (e.g., espresso, lattes, cappuccinos) and concessions staff on cooking procedures.
- Submit approved specials, menu updates, event promotions, and related content to the Marketing Coordinator by established deadlines
- Ensure promotional messaging, pricing, and product availability are accurate and consistent across all food service operations
- Assist manager with inventory management and stock control across all food service areas
- Coordinate ordering needs with the Food Service Manager
- Conduct inventory audits and operational inspections
o Regularly sanitize areas and equipment, including labeling, wrapping, and dating food products for sale.
- Assist with menu implementation, pricing updates, and promotional initiatives
o Take and process customer orders efficiently, providing prompt service.
o Maintain a positive, professional, and friendly interaction with customers.
o Assist with setting up product displays and restocking as needed.
o Be available to work rotating shifts in all departments.
o Fill in and work open shifts as needed.
o Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills:
o Previous experience in food service with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
o Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively.
o Excellent verbal communication and listening skills.
o Ability to train and guide staff in customer service, food prep, and sanitation protocols.
o Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
o Ability to maintain a professional attitude and company morale.
o Ability to work with limited supervision and handle responsibilities independently.
Working Condition:
o Ability to lift at least 30 pounds; heavier lifting may require assistance from others.
o Comfortable standing, walking, and working in a fast-paced environment for extended periods.
o Exposure to moderate noise, grease, cleaning chemicals, food service equipment, and machinery capable of producing steam and high-temperature liquids.
o Willingness to work weeknights, weekends, and special events as required.
o Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
o Ability to perform the essential mental functions of the position, including reading, writing, basic mathematics, organization, problem-solving, attention to detail, and effective communication.
o Must possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license (within 30 days) issued by the State of North Dakota for any required vehicles/equipment.
