We are seeking an Accountant to support our client's accounting team with general ledger maintenance, fixed asset accounting, and month-end close activities. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys hands-on accounting work and can work independently while taking on projects while ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Review and post journal entries to support month-end and year-end close.
- Perform monthly general ledger account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
- Assist with the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Analyze account activity and investigate variances or unusual transactions.
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
- Reconcile fixed asset activity to the general ledger.
- Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial reporting and audits.
- Assist with accruals, prepaid expenses, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support internal controls by maintaining organized documentation and following accounting policies.
- Partner with internal departments to research accounting issues and ensure accurate financial data.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency and accuracy.
- Perform other accounting projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive general ledger accounting experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close procedures.
- Experience with fixed asset accounting and depreciation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Microsoft Dynamics, Oracle, SAP, or similar.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage priorities independently and meet deadlines in a part-time environment.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, hospitality, construction, or other multi-entity environments.
- CPA or CPA-track is a plus but not required.
- Experience supporting audits and financial reporting.
