The Director of Human Resources will lead and champion KARM’s strategic efforts in making KARM the best it can be for those we serve, and those who do the serving, by having a ministry culture where our 155+ employees are connected, valued and supported by the ministry. You will be a trusted advisor to the Chief Impact Officer and the senior executive team in proposing and implementing strategies that foster a vibrant and flourishing ministry culture.
The Director of Human Resources will focus on ensuring all new employees receive an excellent first impression of KARM. You will build strong teams across the ministry; build bench strength for the future by attracting and retaining the right people for ministry service; ensure that KARM’s employees are developed and equipped to be the best at their jobs, and ensure an excellent compensation and benefits program be provided for all employees.
Specifically, you will oversee strategy and delivery in all areas of human resources, including HR systems and processes; compensation, rewards and recognition; employee benefits and wellness; workforce planning; talent lifecycle management; internal communications; legal compliance; and integration management and planning. You will drive performance management, talent acquisition, engagement, retention, and healthy communication. Additionally, you will support an emotionally intelligent, innovative and high-performance workplace where diverse perspectives and forward thinking is embraced and encouraged. You will ensure KARM’s core values are maintained, and that all decisions, programs and processes are aligned with our culture and core beliefs.
Primary Responsibilities

Serve as the human resource champion and drive strategy discussions with the Chief Impact Officer and senior executive team around how to create an environment where employees can do their best work.

Implement a system of continuous improvement that includes the ongoing assessment and development of HR systems, processes and practices specifically designing programs and services to enhance strategic and tactical capabilities and identifying practices and processes that enables effective delivery.

Strategize and implement policies and procedures around performance management, recruiting and onboarding, compensation, benefits, diversity, and employee relationships.

Develop and manage the Human Resources budget.
- Ensure ministry compliance with all laws/regulations related to all aspects of human resource management. Remain current with changes in human resource and employment law.

Build effective relationships across the ministry and with organization directors and the senior executive team to improve communication.
Qualifications, Experience and Characteristics:
- BA/BS in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Leadership, or related field.

8-10 years Human Resources experience required; several years in a top-level HR position preferred

Certification in SHRM is required with the SCP (Senior Certified Professional) status preferred

Proven track record of strong leadership skills, high sense of urgency and proactive decision-making capabilities

Demonstrable proficiency in the knowledge of HR and employment law

Highly experienced in employee relations and engagement, talent acquisition, talent development, performance management, compensation and benefits

Development and management of an HR budget

Strategic thinker and confident decision-maker

Skilled communicator; writes and speaks effectively and professionally; effective listener

Experienced in organizational development and change management w/knowledge of current best practices and trends.

Proficient in using human capital management systems (ADP) and Microsoft Office Suite.
