Duties
- Plan and prepare balanced, kid-friendly menus that meet nutritional guidelines and accommodate dietary restrictions
- Prepare meals according to CACFP guidelines and provided menus
- Ensure all food handling procedures adhere to strict safety and sanitation standards to maintain a clean kitchen environment
- Grocery shopping for the center
- Serve meals in a timely manner
- Maintain accurate records of food temperatures, sanitation practices, and meal counts for compliance and reporting purposes
- Collaborate with staff to accommodate special dietary needs and implement menu modifications as required
- Adhere to health and safety policies and state licensing procedures
- Perform other duties as required
Skills
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in a licensed child care facility
- Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food service operations
- Knowledge of menu planning tailored for young children, including understanding nutritional requirements and portion control
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and to stand for long periods 95% of the day
- Previous experience as a cook is a MUST
- Must maintain state in-service requirements
- Nutrition training is a MUST
- State fingerprint background check is a must
