Teacher Job Description:
To plan and present appropriate instruction, using Nevada Academic Content Standards based curriculum, to students in a rigorous and engaging way. Collect student data and use that data to determine individual student needs. Follow the directions and supervisory advice of the administrative team. Manage IEPs, goals and individual student needs.
Essential Elements of the Job:
- Lesson planning for each subject area, which include Nevada Academic Content Standards, essential questions, questioning and engagement activities, as well as formative and summative assessments.
- Teach each subject area and provide individual student support for academics and behavior.
- Provide feedback and maintain grades for assignments and assessments.
- Write IEPs and hold IEP meetings.
- Use technology in planning, grading as well as instruction.
- Develop relationships with all students and maintain a progressive discipline system for each student.
- Develop relationships with families and provide on-going communication about students.
- Maintain records and meet professional responsibilities of the job.
- Participate in family events at the school.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education Requirements: Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Education and a Nevada teaching license in Special Education
Additional Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working with English language learners
- Experience with significant positive outcomes as a leader in the classroom
- Strongly committed to improving academic outcomes for all students
- Experience working with special student populations, including students with developmental disabilities and GATE students
- Familiarity with Infinite Campus
- Experience working with educational technology platforms such as IReady, ST Math, Smarty Ants, etc
- Inspires trust and models high standards of integrity
- Is a “team player” who inspires others by example
