A privately held manufacturing company is seeking a Staff Accountant to support accounting operations, financial reporting, cost tracking, and internal financial processes. The organization serves a variety of commercial customers and offers a hands-on environment where the accounting team works closely with operations, logistics, and leadership.
Position Overview
The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close, preparing reconciliations, supporting financial reporting, and helping track product-related costs. This role is a strong fit for someone with general accounting experience who enjoys detail-oriented work and collaborating across departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities.
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and support financial reporting.
- Perform bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processes as needed.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and internal reporting.
- Help ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and properly documented.
- Support audit requests by gathering schedules, records, and backup documentation.
- Work with internal teams to track inventory-related costs and cost allocations.
- Assist with reviewing freight, purchasing, and vendor-related charges for accuracy.
- Support analysis of outside cost factors that may impact product margins.
- Reconcile cost-related accounts and assist with identifying discrepancies.
- Help improve accounting processes, reporting tools, and internal workflows.
- Collaborate with finance, operations, purchasing, and logistics teams on accounting-related projects.
Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Prior accounting experience in a corporate, manufacturing, or public accounting environment.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accrual accounting, debits and credits, and account reconciliations.
- Experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Familiarity with accounting systems such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, PeopleSoft, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to inventory, cost accounting, purchasing, or freight-related accounting is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to organize financial data and communicate findings clearly.
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Collaborative approach with the ability to work across departments.
