Position Summary
CMR is hiring a Maintenance Technician to keep our Boone, Iowa facility running reliably and to play a central role in installing new equipment as we scale operations. You will split your time between preventive and corrective maintenance on existing process equipment and hands-on installation work as we expand our pilot plant. You will report to the Director of Facilities and Equipment and work closely with operations staff daily.
Responsibilities
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on tanks, pumps, conveyors, filtration systems, tumblers, and associated mechanical and electrical equipment
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures to minimize production downtime
- Support the installation of new process equipment during our facility expansion — this is a major and ongoing part of the role
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals to guide repairs and installations
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts used, and equipment status
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures, proper PPE use, and confined space requirements
- Communicate clearly with the Director of Facilities and Equipment and operations staff on equipment status, repair timelines, and installation progress
- Keep the maintenance shop and work areas clean and organized
Qualifications
- 3 or more years of experience in industrial or commercial maintenance in a production environment
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
- Experience supporting equipment installation or facility build-out projects, not just routine maintenance
- Ability to read mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and hydraulic diagrams
- Comfortable working from technical manuals and manufacturer specifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug screen
- HVAC experience is a plus; no specific certifications required
