Kansas City, MO | Full-Time | Emergency Response | Overtime Available
Build a Career. Help People. Be Part of a Team That Has Your Back.
When a homeowner or business has a major water loss, they don’t have time to wait. They need someone who knows what to do, shows up when it matters, and takes pride in getting the job done right.
Standard Restoration is looking for Water Mitigation Technicians to join our Kansas City team.
If you have restoration experience, know your way around extraction and drying equipment, and want to work for a company that invests in its people, this could be a great opportunity to take the next step in your career.
We handle emergency water, fire, and mold restoration—and we’re looking for someone who wants to become an expert in the field, not just punch a clock.
What You’ll Do
As a Water Mitigation Technician, you’ll be on the front lines helping customers recover from unexpected property damage. Your day may include:
- Responding to water, fire, and mold emergencies
- Extracting standing water and setting up professional drying equipment
- Performing structural drying and monitoring moisture levels
- Removing damaged materials such as drywall, flooring, carpet, and other debris
- Setting up, monitoring, and maintaining restoration equipment
- Maintaining accurate drying documentation and job records
- Following job scopes and work orders while maintaining high-quality standards
- Communicating professionally with customers, teammates, insurance representatives, and other parties
- Keeping jobsites clean, organized, and safe
- Participating in a rotating on-call schedule, including nights and weekends
Every job is different. You’ll be working in real-world environments where problem-solving, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic matter.
Who Succeeds Here?
You don't need to know everything on day one. We can teach the right person our processes and support your professional development.
We're looking for someone who:
- Has 1+ year of restoration, mitigation, construction, or related hands-on experience preferred
- Takes pride in quality workmanship and doing the job right the first time
- Can work independently while also being a strong team player
- Is comfortable working in physically demanding environments
- Can lift and carry 50–75 lbs and perform tasks involving bending, kneeling, standing, climbing, and working in tight spaces
- Communicates clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing
- Is dependable and willing to respond to emergency calls as part of a rotating on-call schedule
- Has a valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
- Has IICRC certification—or is willing to earn it with our support
If You Have Restoration Experience, That's Great.
If you have IICRC certifications, experience with water mitigation, or understand psychrometrics and structural drying, we'd love to hear from you.
But we're also interested in candidates coming from construction, remodeling, plumbing, flooring, HVAC, facilities maintenance, or other hands-on trades who are ready to build a career in restoration.
Why Standard Restoration?
We believe taking care of our customers starts with taking care of our people.
When you join Standard Restoration, you'll get:
- Competitive pay + overtime opportunities
- Paid training and ongoing skills development
- Support for IICRC certification
- Opportunities to grow into more advanced restoration roles
- A team-oriented work environment
- The satisfaction of helping people through some of their most stressful days
- A company that values quality, integrity, accountability, and doing what we say we'll do
This Isn't Just a Cleanup Job.
It's a skilled trade with a career path.
You'll learn how buildings respond to water damage, how to properly dry structures, how to use professional restoration equipment, how to manage jobs from start to finish, and how to help customers navigate a difficult situation.
If you're dependable, hardworking, mechanically inclined, and looking for a company where you can learn, grow, and be recognized for your work, we want to meet you.
