Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Attorney to join our civil litigation team to manage complex defense matters from intake through trial and appeal. The ideal candidate will have solid civil litigation experience, strong courtroom presence, and the ability to develop strategy, drive discovery, and achieve favorable outcomes for clients. This role emphasizes litigation and client counseling across a range of liability matters with opportunities to work on product, construction, premises, medical malpractice, commercial, and business litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities

Manage a varied civil litigation caseload from intake through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and briefs.

Develop litigation strategy, prepare for and take depositions, examine witnesses, and conduct trials and hearings in state and federal courts as needed.

Handle discovery and evidence management, including e-discovery, document review, and coordinating with vendors and experts.

Advise and counsel clients on risk, exposure, settlement options, and litigation posture; lead settlement negotiations and mediations.

Coordinate with in-house and outside counsel, adjusters, and experts to prepare technical, medical, and economic materials required for defense.

Prepare and argue dispositive motions and post-trial filings; manage appeal-related tasks when necessary.

Supervise and mentor junior associates, paralegals, and legal staff; review work product and delegate tasks to meet deadlines and budget targets.

Maintain accurate case budgets, time entries, and client communications; participate in business development and client relationship-building activities.

Stay current on changes in civil procedure, case law, and statutes relevant to liability, product, construction, premises, medical malpractice, and commercial litigation.
Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the state bar in good standing.

Minimum 1+ years of civil litigation experience; prior defense experience strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience in litigation practice areas including civil litigation and general liability; experience with product liability, construction defect, premises liability, medical malpractice, commercial and business litigation is a strong plus.

Proven trial, deposition, and motion practice experience with strong legal research and persuasive writing skills.

Ability to develop case strategy, manage discovery and evidence, and coordinate experts and vendors.

Excellent oral advocacy, negotiation, and client counseling skills, with professional demeanor and the capacity to manage client expectations.

Proficiency with litigation support tools and e-discovery platforms; strong organizational skills and ability to manage competing deadlines.

Track record of working collaboratively in teams and mentoring junior staff; commitment to billing accuracy and efficient case management.
