Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for patient procedures.
- Assist dentists chairside during various treatments, including restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthodontic work.
- Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced imaging technology such as 3D scanners (Itero and Panmeca) and medical imaging equipment while adhering to strict HIPAA and infection control protocols.
- Manage patient records accurately within EMR systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring all medical documentation complies with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs assessments and monitor patient comfort throughout procedures to support safe and effective care.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control standards to uphold a safe clinical environment.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering phones as a dental receptionist, and managing medical records efficiently.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
- Proficiency in EMR systems including Eaglesoft and DentalWriter; familiarity with medical coding and documentation is a plus.
- Skilled in chairside assisting with expertise in four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Ability to operate dental X-ray equipment safely while following all radiation safety guidelines.
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and sterilization procedures.
- Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles and experience working with pediatric patients is highly desirable.
- Certification or training in medical terminology, endodontics, prosthodontics, or related specialties is preferred but not required.
