Job Overview
Must have waste industry experience! We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy duty automotive diagnostics and hands-on experience with garbage trucks, various power and hand tools. This role involves maintaining and repairing diesel engines, tires, brakes, and general maintenance. Will be under supervision of shop supervisor and fleet manager.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough inspections of diesel engines and related systems to identify issues.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire service.
- Utilize automotive diagnostics to troubleshoot engine problems effectively.
- Repair or replace defective parts using hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment.
- Maintain air brake systems to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Solder and suspend components as needed during repairs.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Document all work performed in accordance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine components and systems.
- Proficiency in using automotive diagnostics tools and software.
- Experience with power tools, hand tools, air brakes.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid CDL is a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
