Position Summary:
The Field Technician is responsible for performing hands-on tasks at industrial job sites, including equipment installation, maintenance, repairs, and general construction support. This role requires mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work in dynamic, safety-critical environments. The Field Technician works under the supervision of a Foreman or Project Manager and collaborates with team members to complete project objectives on time and according to specification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with installation, repair, and maintenance of industrial systems including piping, machinery, and structural components.
- Operate hand and power tools, equipment, and machinery safely and efficiently.
- Read and interpret blueprints, job plans, and technical documents.
- Follow safety protocols and participate in daily jobsite safety meetings (e.g., JHAs, tailgate meetings).
- Load, unload, and transport materials and equipment as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist in identifying and reporting potential issues or hazards to supervisors.
- Record jobsite activities, measurements, and material usage as directed.
- Support project execution with flexibility in duties as work scope changes.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in industrial or commercial construction (mechanical, civil, or electrical) preferred.
- Familiarity with tools and equipment used in industrial settings.
- Ability to read basic blueprints, schematics, and drawings
- Strong understanding of workplace safety practices (OSHA 10/30 certification a plus).
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to travel to job sites.
Work Environment:
- Industrial job sites including plants, mills, factories, or refineries.
- Exposure to noise, dust, heavy machinery, and varying weather conditions.
- May require overtime, night shifts, or weekend work depending on project demands.
