Deputy Finance Director
Ringfeder / Carlyle Johnson is a $25 Million manufacturer and distributor of clutches, brakes and other power transmission products.
Position Summary
The Deputy Finance Director is responsible for supporting the financial operations of the organization by helping to manage day-to-day accounting activities. The Person will also assist the VP of Finance & Controlling with strategic financial planning, reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. This position plays a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), strengthening internal controls, and supporting informed business decisions.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on accounting professional with experience in a manufacturing environment who demonstrates strong analytical abilities, excellent organizational skills, and the potential to grow into a senior finance leadership position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Oversee daily accounts payable functions.
- Ensure timely processing of vendor payments.
- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities.
Financial Reporting
- Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Support the preparation of internal management reports and financial dashboards.
- Analyze financial results and investigate significant variances.
- Assist with cash flow forecasting and reporting.
Managerial Accounting
- Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, inventory valuation, labor efficiency, and overhead allocations.
- Assist in developing key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support profitability analysis by product line, department, or customer.
- Recommend opportunities for cost reduction and operational improvements.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Maintain compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
- Assist in maintaining effective internal controls.
- Support external financial statement audits and tax audits.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial reporting requirements.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Provide accounting support to operations, purchasing, sales, and management.
- Serve as backup for the Vice President of Finance & Controlling when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required; Finance degree with an Accounting minor will be considered.
- Minimum of two (2) years of accounting experience in public accounting or a manufacturing environment.
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including:
- Pivot Tables
- VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
- SUMIFS
- Financial modeling
- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing accounting experience.
- Cost accounting experience.
- ERP system experience (SAP experience helpful but not required.)

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
