Commercial Construction Estimator
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our team. The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, analyzing project plans and specifications, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and supporting the preconstruction process for commercial construction projects.
The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, construction knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and cost estimates
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids
- Develop detailed project budgets and proposals
- Analyze labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs
- Identify value engineering opportunities
- Coordinate with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients
- Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
- Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information
- Assist with contract negotiations and project handoff to operations teams
- Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted on time
Qualifications
- 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience (preferred, not required)
- Strong understanding of commercial construction methods and materials
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
Preferred Skills
- Experience with estimating software such as Procore.
- Knowledge of local building codes and regulations
- Experience in healthcare, retail, industrial, multifamily, or public-sector construction projects
Physical Requirements
- Ability to travel to job sites and attend project meetings as needed
- Ability to sit for extended periods while reviewing plans and preparing estimates
