Our facility is looking to fill a part-time position on our Kennel Care Staff. Roughly 20 hrs. /wk., mostly mornings, but will include some holidays, evening and weekend shifts. Wage increases after 6 month anniversary.
You do get to spend time walking and having playtime with our client’s pets, but there is a lot more to this job that involves a lot of hard work! The ideal person for this position will be honest, optimistic, responsible, reliable, punctual, helpful, and hard working. (That’s you, right?) Some of your major roles are to care for all hospitalized and boarding animals, clean and disinfect the hospital, interact with clients, handle computer entries, and many more! This job is NOT an easy “play with puppies, clean a couple cages” job. We need someone who is passionate about caring for animals and willing to adhere to our standards of pet care. Some of the job duties and qualifications are listed below:
Main Duties:
- Care of boarding and hospitalized pets.
- Disinfects and cleans kennels daily.
- Feed and water animals according to individual diet and records intake and output.
- Continuously launder any towels or bedding that have been soiled.
- Medicate, bathe, and groom animals.
- Records all such interactions, notes, and observations, as required, in pet’s medical history.
- Interacts with clients, checks boarders in or out and handles payments.
- General housekeeping in all areas of the hospital.
- Involves keeping the outside environment of the hospital clear of litter and poop and the entryway and vestibule clean and clear of snow and/or ice in winter.
Qualifications:
- Able to exhibit professionalism with a helpful attitude.
- Comfortable around all types of domestic animals.
- Detail oriented and must be able to stick to thorough cleaning routine.
- Able and willing to assist co-workers with needs such as restraining animals, nail trims, or whatever is needed.
- Familiarity with how to use a computer.
- Must have own vehicle and not be dependent on anyone else for transportation to and from work.
- Can work independently, as many shifts are worked alone, but also must be able to communicate well with or work well along with other co-workers.
- Comfortable working around sick pets and able to deal with euthanasia protocol and procedure in a professional manner.
- Must be physically able to stand, walk, squat, and lift anywhere from 50-100 lbs.
