Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) team for overnight shifts, working 36 hours per week in New Bedford. Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to neonatal patients in the NICU, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators.
- Perform detailed patient assessments and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
- Utilize advanced skills such as IV infusion, suturing, and airway management to support patient stability.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation using electronic health record (EHR) systems while adhering to HIPAA regulations.
- Respond promptly to emergencies or acute changes in patient condition, applying trauma medicine principles as needed.
- Educate families about neonatal care procedures and provide emotional support during stressful situations.
- Ensure aseptic techniques are followed during all procedures to prevent infections and promote safety.
- Collaborate with physicians and specialists in areas such as cardiology, infectious disease care, and neurodevelopmental support.
- Participate in discharge planning and coordinate post-hospital care for neonatal patients.
Requirements
- Valid RN license with current registration; additional certifications such as BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
- Extensive critical care experience within NICU settings; Level II or Level III trauma center experience preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and diagnostic evaluation specific to neonatal patients.
- Experience with invasive procedures including catheterization, lumbar punctures, and specimen collection.
- Ability to work night shifts reliably in a fast-paced hospital environment while maintaining high-quality patient care standards.
