Reporting to the Director of Track and Field & Cross Country Coach, The Assistant Track and Field & Cross Country Coach , manages and coordinates all operations related to the Distance program including but not limited to practice management, development of program, traveling to meets, meeting with student athletes, meeting recruits and communicating with the Director of Track & Field and Cross Country.
Job Description
1. Coordinate, Develop and implement practice plan
2. Drive student athletes to practices and Meets
3. Travel to Cross Country and Track & Field Meets
4. Coordinate, and Develop strategic strategies for Distance & Cross Country Athletes
5. Maintain CARA Logs for Distance Athletes
6. Participate in recruiting distance prospects
7. Ability to communicate the standards and uphold expectations of the program
Minimum Qualifications
CREDENTIALS TO BE VERIFIED BY PLACEMENT OFFICER
- Bachelor’s degree
- USATF Cross Country Specialist
- USTF Level 1 coach or Similar certification
- 2 or more years of paid coaching experience
Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and comply with the University’s vehicle use policy
Preferred Qualifications
- One year or more coaching experience as High School or College Coach
- Gait Analysis Performance experience
- Familiar with managing/ administration of NCAA rules and regulations.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of recruitment practices.
- Knowledge of social media analytics, social media publishing tools, web analytics, and tracking technologies.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office suites
- Coordination and Facilitation of Student Athlete Meetings and Academic supervision
- Knowledge of Mid Distance and Distance Training.
- Skill in managing effective communication for a group of Student Athletes
- Implement and develop effect training plans for Mid Distance and Distance athletes
- Implement and Develop communication for practice plans, travel and academic information
- Ability to develop and execute Mid Distance, Distance and Cross Country workouts
Additional Applicant Information Physical Requirement/ Demands
- Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate verbally, read, write, see, and hear to perform essential functions.
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 30 pounds.
- Demonstrate ability to drive vans for Travel Meets that are required for meets
- Prolonged standing at athletic contests and events.
Work Environment
- Indoor and outdoor working environment in all weather conditions
- Ability to drive a van
- Non-traditional hours will be required
- Travel to designated away events required
